Tips For Choosing The Perfect Gloss For Your Lips
One should remember that perfection is ten percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration. So finding the lip gloss that best suits your lip color and lip tone is an endeavor that requires patience, persistence, and a little (just a little) luck. Hopefully, the following tips will increase your chances of finding the lip gloss that best suits the lips you're wearing.
1. Be open, don't forget to experiment!
There are many brands of lip glosses and the prices of each vary. A $7 lip gloss bought at the neighborhood drugstore isn't necessarily inferior compared to an $18 Poole lip gloss compact. Lips could only appreciate the texture, smoothness, silkiness of the gloss, or feel its heaviness, stickiness, or unpleasantness. Lips don't really care how much the lip gloss costs or where it was purchased. Although high-end lip glosses sometimes offer a super-glossy feel that glides on the lips almost beautifully, there are also inexpensive lip glosses like Bonne Bell that could give high-end brands a run for their money. The label isn't everything. Sometimes great finds can be found at dollar stores. Try your luck, win or lose, it's all worth a dollar. However, if you are shopping at a drugstore or Wal-Mart, make sure to do extensive research on the lip gloss product you are considering purchasing, as drugstores do not offer testers.
2. Shine is not forever
– Reapply to preserve the dye
– Some brands, even the best ones, fade after a few hours
– Some people really don't like the feel of heavy gloss
– Judge by the color of your lips, not someone else's
3. Tips for choosing
Make sure you choose your lip gloss according to the color of your lips, as the color of your lips automatically affects the color of the gloss applied to them. Never choose based on how good or bad a lip gloss looks on Jennifer Anniston or Angelina Jolie. Jennifer has thin fair lips while Angelina has full pouty lips. Naturally, yours is similarly worlds apart from theirs, if not better. Lip gloss colors appear differently on different types of people. Your own lip color plays an important role as your natural lip color will show through. So is your natural lip tone, the pigmentation of the lip gloss, how comfortable it is to apply, and whatever else you're looking for in a lip gloss. Obviously, it's as unique, individual and personalized as it gets.
4. Not all that glitters is good
No matter how great it looks, make sure the lip gloss applied to your lips feels comfortable as if it's almost not there. Lip gloss glitters that are harsh or sharp should not be tolerated by your lips either. Don't be afraid to return it to the store and politely explain your problem to the saleswoman or preferably the store manager. It should be replaced with another less harsh tube. But if the same problem persists, maybe it's time to switch to a different brand, specifically one that doesn't have so much glitter that it hurts.
Be realistic, lip gloss adds a subtle shimmer to the lips, it's not going to give anyone kissable cotton-soft lips. That's what lip balms do. Balms are not shiny. But it makes the lips supple. Before applying lip gloss, first apply lip balm to hydrate your lips. The gloss is supposed to be – you guessed it – shiny. If not, go to the shop or store where it was purchased, it is assumed that you will receive the product for which you purchased.
